Conwy Play Strategy – Working in Partnership for All Children’s Right to Play

Posted on July 21, 2010

Play is a recurring theme within national and local policy and the Conwy Play Strategy aims to represent a commitment to securing more opportunities for children to play freely.
The development of this document comes at a critical time in national policy relating to play. There is increased recognition of the benefits in relation to developing executive functioning in the brain, of developing ways of coping with uncertainty, health benefits of a variable heart rate and the development of stress response systems. Anyone who works with children and young people should be able to see the benefits to their work if playing freely develops these factors.

All of this makes it more important than ever that we not only produce our Play Strategy, but that the recommendations and actions within it are acted upon by all stakeholders to secure sufficient play opportunities for all children and young people within Conwy.

The Play Strategy will be out for consultation from July 9th until August 20th and is due to be launched officially in November 2010.
