Rhyl and District Rugby Football Club

Rhyl and District RFC embarked on a hugely ambitious project to relocate their old 2 site facility onto a new site at Tynewydd, closer to town. They have now developed 4 new playing surfaces, new changing facilities, a clubhouse and a community room that serves a wide range of local groups. The project was made possible through the support of multiple funders as well as the sale of club assets.

As the project neared completion of the community room it was clear they would have to utilise much of the old furniture from the previous premises, which would detract from the quality of the new facility. £9,999 from Gwynt y Môr Community Fund purchased new furnishings and helped deliver a high quality of resource for local people to use.

The club is now really embedded in the local community  with lots more involvement from residents and ex-players. Junior and youth participation has increased significantly and a new ladies team has been launched. The meeting and community rooms are already very well used by a wide range of local community groups with bookings filling up for the year ahead.

A further £10,000 has since been awarded for floodlighting which will help increase use of the facility even more, especially during the dark winter and autumn months.
