reSource Denbighshire CIC

Resource Denbighshire

During the covid-19 pandemic reSource CIC received a recovery grant in order to assist them with their running costs.

reSource works with a wide range of community members, whilst they focus their work on inclusion and working to support individuals distanced from the labour market, they are not a disability specific organisation. They focus on the individual skills and strengths that all participants bring to the project and in the development and delivery of activities.

Through this funding they were able to support a young individual with an acquired brain injury. The individual had become very frustrated at the COVID social restrictions that were placed on him and was unable to understand. This included having extra supervision due to the risks around being unable to maintain social distancing and other ‘risk’ behaviours.

The individual in question had a keen interest in gardening and showed an interest in reSources’ plans to develop growing. They also understood that the individual had never been able to gain a qualification.

They then introduced the individual to vocational ASDAN qualification. This enabled him to maintain the task and he recorded the work that he had done towards the certificate and he became encouraged by his achievements.

This also had benefits at his home where he completed ‘homework’ tasks and was keen to show us his work on return.

This project shows that by having funding for running costs from the Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm Covid Recovery fund, the organisation were able to ensure that he was able to take part in his community, making connections with others on site, bringing positive benefits to his home life, improvements in his well-being and raising his aspirations.
