Colwyn Bay Rugby Club

The Gwynt y Môr (GYM)Community Fund has a strong association with Colwyn Bay RFC having supported two distinct club projects in recent times.  The first, a partnership initiative between the Welsh Rugby Union, the club and GYM helped the Seahorses achieve a long running funding campaign to install LED floodlighting at their Brookfield Drive ground. These state of the art lights not only helped the club reduce it’s energy bills but also cut its carbon footprint. It improved evening training facilities during the winter months and also offered increased opportunities for evening floodlit matches.

More recently the club has undertaken a commitment to improve its off field facilities. Part of this phased development is the redesign and installation of a commercial kitchen and white goods. Gwynt y Môr  is delighted to have been able to support this element. The upshot being the club’s ability to better cater for external meetings and functions, provide post match meals for players whilst creating a much needed additional revenue stream following the Covid pandemic.

May 2022 saw the club host the Senior North Wales Cup and Bowl Finals. Fine weather attracted record crowds; finalists Mold , Teirw Nant Conwy Pwllheli and Nant Conwy RFC receiving great support. Congratulations to all clubs in reaching the final and to Nant Conwy RFC in completing the double.

An excellent venue for a great day’s sport with Colwyn Bay hosting and generating much needed revenue.
