STOP PRESS: Local authority Lock down grants: LIVE and open to charities in hospitality, retail and leisure
Similar to the previous WG 'Rates grants' in the summer, the 'business lock down' grants of £1000 are live on local authority websites, here in Conwy –
The grants are also open to Charites and CASCS operating in leisure, retail and hospitality sectors, it includes 'assembly for leisure' so there is the assumption it includes community centres too. As was the case with the last rates grants, charities need to operate from premises that have a rateable value ie. are on the rates register but they do not have to pay rates, they can be in receipt of full rate relief. Church halls etc. however, remain ineligible as they are exempt from being on a rates register.
Those businesses and charities forced to close as a result of firebreak regulations can also apply for a discretionary top up on the basic £1,000; they can apply for a top up of either £1,500 or £2,000 - but there are additional conditions to these top-ups.
The place it seems to show about Charities, is if you go on the Business Wales eligibility form about half way through it asks for Company number or Charity Number – there does not seem to be any reference anywhere else.
Deadline is 20th November unless funds are committed before then.
