Foodbank Development Project
A new Welsh Government funded project that Conwy Food Partnership is co-developing with CVSC, to support food banks and other community food organisations in Conwy to become more resilient and reduce the need for long-term emergency food support.
We know that food support is often the first thing people turn to when they are facing financial hardship, and that staff and volunteers are already providing far more than food alone. This project aims to build on that work by offering practical support and training to help organisations.
As part of our existing funding offer to community food organisations, we will be offering tailored support, with a focus on:
- Building confidence in having supportive, person-centred conversations.
- Identifying the root causes of long-term reliance on emergency food provision.
- Gathering feedback from service users about what would most benefit them.
- Increasing awareness of local services and support available.
- Making referrals and effectively signposting to appropriate agencies.
- Exploring approaches that promote dignity, independence, and long-term resilience.
We recognise that every organisation is different, so support will be tailored to the needs of your service and community.
We ask funded partners to engage with the support and training opportunities provided, helping to ensure meaningful and lasting benefits both for your organisation and the people you support.
Mark Rose, Community Hub Coordinator at CVSC, will be contacting organisations in the coming weeks to arrange an informal visit and discussion about how we can best support you. This will be followed by drop-in sessions to build on support and share any challenges.
Our overall aim is to help people access the support they need to address the underlying causes of food insecurity, reducing long-term reliance on emergency food and improving wellbeing. The project is not intended to create additional expectations but rather complement the valuable work that organisations are already doing.
