Charlie is a primary school pupil who volunteers his time to help look after animals and protect the environment. He is 10 years old and a Scout at the Orme Troop. But all his volunteering activities are outside his school and Scout commitments.
Bethan started volunteeting with Car Y Llan right at the beginning of the scheme at the end of 2019. Covid had a major impact on the scheme but since its been back up and running Bethan has been a major asset to the scheme in delivering the surgery’s prescriptions weekly in all kind of weathers.
Youth Shedz is an award-winning initiative that provides a safe place for young people to explore who they are, to develop pro-social relationships with suitable role models, develop and learn new skills.
My volunteering journey began, when after 8 years of working in hospitality, I started to crave a change. I wanted to gain some new skills, meet people from different backgrounds and walks of life and better understand the community I lived in.
I contacted Ceri Jones, Volunteering Development Officer at CVSC and discussed volunteering roles, and asked that she referred me to the role within Creating Enterprise. Ceri contacted me several times to ensure I was happy within my volunteer role.
Abergele Community Action, (ITACA) with the collaboration of some of their current young volunteers, proposed a Castle Clean-up project, at Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust and put forward an application to the Youth Led Grant Fund, to achieve this.
Volunteers of Youth Shedz have supported Youth Shed with around 250 hours of volunteering, hosting quizzes and chats and checking in with the Youth Shedderz over Lockdown.
Volunteer Packer / Driver Volunteering In CAIS Coronavirus Hardship Fund Service. Steve contacted CVSC about taking up a volunteer position and was referred to CAIS as a minibus driver.
Existing volunteer with roles in various charitable and community organisations including St John’s Ambulance, Scout Association and the National Trust prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, who reached out to CVSC to see if there were any other opportunities for him to assist the local community.
