Mark Albrow

I contacted Ceri Jones, Volunteering Development Officer at CVSC and discussed volunteering roles, and asked that she referred me to the role within Creating Enterprise. Ceri contacted me several times to ensure I was happy within my volunteer role.

I was looking for a useful role and saw the advertisement for ‘Digital Champions’ from Creating Enterprise with their Digital Access Project, and wanted to get involved, as I have a background in I.T. Support. As a Volunteer I provide support for people who want to use a tablet/laptop to access the internet and utilise its possibilities to enable more social engagement and use of everyday services and useful sources of information.

Volunteering has made a huge difference to me and has given me ’job’ satisfaction and confirmation of the direction I should be pursuing. I have learnt a different perspective from the tenants. I have helped others by providing access to online training materials and printed guidelines and rules, which has hopefully been useful to the people I am supporting. Creating Enterprise referred me to their employment adviser which led directly to my gaining useful employment and led me to pursue and gain work in the care sector.

Volunteering to me is contributing positively to the community by performing a useful role with no recompense expected.
