Ruthin Clock Restoration Committee
In 2023 the Ruthin clock restoration group was awarded £7,100.
This project involved community events to educate the local community about the history of the clock together and teach them how they would go about with a conservation architect to restore the clock. The restoration of the clock was part of a larger project funded through other funders.
Talks were also held in the local schools, a public exhibition and a history booklet about the clock and the restoration project. The group had contacted 500 individuals throughout the duration of the project.
A member of the group said:
"'The project enabled the community to really participate in the project in a wide variety of different ways, and that, in turn, helped the capital work by local people and visitors to know and understand what was being done and why. We couldn't have done this without the grant from Clocaenog Wind Farm Fund.'"
This scheme also offered opportunities for young people from the class to get in touch with the conservation architect, to see what kind of job it was if they were considering going into the field in the future.
