Brighter Futures received a grant under Gwynt y Môr to support the creation of a Community Fleet to provide local organisations with vehicles and equipment for events, reducing costs and fostering collaboration.
The grant funded a 17-seat minibus, and the initiative aims to increase community inclusion. The learning process has been beneficial, helping to identify weaknesses and improve community cohesion.
Currently, the grant has allowed 35 groups/organisations to use the Community Minibus, with 6 drivers MIDAS trained and 2 planning to undergo training soon. The minibus is well maintained, with daily and weekly checks by drivers, and 8-weekly safety checks by a local garage.
The project has received a lot of positive feedback received from all groups, expressing time and money-saving benefits and Brighter Futures we remain open to future collaboration. They have created some links with other groups across Wales, just to share experiences and knowledge which is just in the early stages, but we hope will grow over time.
