The club came to discuss their project with the manager of the fund early in order to get guidance.
The club decided to apply to the fund in 2 stages for their project 'Improvements to the facilities of the Football Field with Resources':
Between the two stages, Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm Fund invested just under £35,000 in the club which is a significant amount for a small club in the Conwy County rural area, and it has made a big difference to the club:
As a result of this funding, they have been able to gain promotion to Tier 4 of the Welsh football league, and continue to thrive.
A few new members have joined the club because they play at the higher level and there is a good group of local players. Young players from the area have re-joined the club and they look forward to welcoming more young ones in the coming years. They have also recruited two new trainers to expand the training team they already had. More fans are coming to watch the games now with 80 having turned up to a cup game.
It is a special opportunity for the younger generation to see local individuals playing the game and inspire them to join in the future. Another result of the improvements to the field, is that some of the Youth team are desperate to get the training sessions started again, and when they get new coaches, they hope to be able to offer the sessions from year 1 onwards.
This is a great example of value for money as the club and Youth team work together to get the best for football in the Cerrigydrudion area.
