Ruthin Rugby Club

At the end of 2022 Ruthin Rugby Club were awarded £80,000 from the Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm fund towards building an extension to the current changing rooms and player entrance.

The improvements proposed would enable the club to provide larger, modern and excellent facilities in order to maintain existing participation and contribute to the club’s ambitions of increasing participation across all age groups, but particularly junior and girls/ladies’ participation. The club was limited in how many teams can be set up as there was not enough changing room space etc.

During the last year the club have taken the crucial step of establishing a formal ‘Girls/Women Committee’, with Chairperson who reports into the Senior Committee, alongside the Mini & Junior committee.

The Ravens Hub girls team are delighted with the new changing facility, and they have been doing brilliant with the U16s and U18s Ravens Hub Club reaching the WRU “Road to Principallity” competition. Some of the squad have also been chosen to play for the U18s RGC team and one member has joined the U18s Wales 7s Squad.

Lee Sanderson, Chair of the club says

‘The two new changing rooms, improved referee changing facilities and extra medical treatment areas will help ensure that Clwb Rygbi Rhuthun is able to accommodate more players, male and female, of all ages in a safer environment. We are thankful to the Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm Fund for supporting this scheme, without their help it wouldn’t have been possible’
