Trelogan Community Centre Celebrates!
Trelogan is a small village in rural North Flintshire. It has a population of just under 600, a primary school for its 80 children and a modern community centre for the villagers. Public transport is limited and being rurally isolated the community centre plays an important role in the social fabric of the village.
In 2020 - 2021 Trelogan Community Centre management committee restructured with several new members elected to represent user groups. One of the first tasks undertaken was a consultation exercise, the centre’s good and not so good points.
It immediately became apparent there were a number of issues facing the new regime who set about developing a phased capital improvement programme. With professional help from FLVC (Flintshire Local Voluntary Council) an application was prepared and submitted to the Gwynt y Môr Community Fund grants panel in early 2022.
A grant of £10,000 was secured and work immediately began on improvements. By the Spring of 22 all first phase works were complete.
The result ? A posh new outside space for our smallest users. Guiding lights to and from the centre older users and improved gates / fencing for site security and safety.
The icing on the cake was a further £665 Gwynt y Môr Micro Grant towards the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in June. What better way to celebrate the improved facilities !
The centre is currently planning phase 2 developments, specifications and contractors prices when a further application will be submitted to the Gwynt y Môr Community Fund - who helped us to transform our community.
